Photographer Alan De Herrera has always been fascinated with the technical and creative process of creating powerful images. His vast array of work over the years is impressive. Whether it's filming sea lions underwater for his new nature documentary Seal Island, working with kids on a humanitarian project in Eucador, documenting US Navy medical teams in Haiti, or photographing giant green sea turtles for E-Magazine, Alan approaches each and every project with passion, solid planning, creative improvisation and boundless imagination.
"I was drawn into photography at a young age because of my passion for exploration and documentation," says Alan. Photography can be very challenging both technically and creatively while also offering a great opportunity to think outside the box. I love cameras and I love a good challenge. Photography gives me the opportunity to think and feel with both sides of the brain! I believe very great photograph can be broken down to the basics; great composition, amazing lighting, passion and an interesting subject."
